Chief Guest Sri. S. N. Jha, IAS, Special Secretary-cum-Director Education was handed over the entire BJS-EDUQIP documents & CDs by the Executive Director Shri Sunil Phadkeji in the presence of all the A&N Education Directorate Officials, participating Teacher Trainees, Expert BJS Team from Pune H.O and Prof. Balu Prakash – BJS Asst. Director along with all BJS(A&N) Team Members of Port Blair Office at the formal handing over function on 10th April 2008.

A team of BJS experts lead by Shri. Sunil Phadkeji - Executive Director, Brig. Satish Kalia - Deputy Director, Ms Divya Khivansara - Asst. Director, Ms Mrinmayee Kalkar - Manager, Mr Vinod Khedlekar - HR Manager and Ms. Swarupama Raskar - Project Leader visited Port Blair for formally handing over of BJS-EDUQIP to Directorate of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Administration. The Chief Guest Shri. S. N. Jha, IAS, Special Secretary-cum-Director (Education), inaugurated the training program for 72 selected Teachers at the Siksha Sadan. Prof. Balu Prakash - Asst. Director along with all Staff Members of BJS (A&N) Port Blair Office attended the inaugural function on 8th April 2008.

A Grand Rally was organized by the Directorate of Sports, Arts & Culture (SAC) of A & N Administration in commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the arrival of the First Batch of Freedom Fighters of the 1st War of Independence, who landed at the Chattam Jetty in Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 10th March 1858. | 24th December 2007 |
Shri. Sunil Phadkeji, Executive Director came in from Pune to attend the meeting with Shri. S. N. Jha, Special Secretary-cum-Director (Education) and all the top A&N Education Directorate authorities. The meeting was attended by all the Assistant Directors of Education (Planning, Personnel, Administration, Monitoring & Text Books), DEO South Andaman, DEO Science, Accounts Officer, and Statistical Officer all from the Directorates of Education. Prof. B. Prakash, Assistant Director, Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Project Manager, Mr. Jagannath Rao, Project Leader, and Mr. Suman Dutta, Project Leader from BJS attended the crucial Meeting. It was a very productive meeting where a consensus was reached regarding the launch of ITE2AS and the handover of the copyright of BJS-EDUQIP programs to the various nodal agencies of the A&N Directorate of Education. It was also decided that the handing over and training of the officials could be conducted the week after CBSE Board Examinations. It was also decided that the ITE2AS can be launched with immediate effect. The officials who would be coordinating from the Directorate of Education have been identified and assigned specific responsibilities. |

| 1st December 2007 |
Mr. Benjamin Isaac, Director-ORT was on visit of the A&N Islands, completed the tour of BJS-ORT Schools in North Andaman, Middle Andaman, South Andaman and Campbell Bay; he had an experience sharing session at the BJS-Port Blair office with the A&N Team members, whose dedication, he said, enabled them to reach far flung and inaccessible Schools and made the BJS-EDUQIP(A&N) a successful venture. |

| 15th November 2007 |
Teachers Training Program phase II was conducted at Mayabandar of North Andaman by Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Project Manager along with Mr. Suman Dutta, Project Leader. 57 teachers attended the program for three days which ended with Creativity for Teachers on the third day. They appreciated the program and praised our efforts to bring quality in education. |

| 4th October 2007 |
BJS-Executive Director Shri. Sunil Phadke visited Port Blair on 4th October 2007 for an Interactive Presentation on ITEEAS with top A&N officials including the Chief Secretary Shri. Chhering Targay IAS, Secretary (Higher Education) Shri. Arvind Ray IAS, Incharge Special Secretary-cum-Director (Education) Ms. S. K. P. Sodhi, Jt. Secretary (IT) Shri. Utpal Sharma, Mr. Radhakrishnan, I/C NIC and other Senior Education Directorate Officials were present at the A&N Secretariat Conference Hall. The Chief Secretary wound-up the proceedings by calling for ITEEAS proposals to be submitted by BJS through the Secretary (Education). Shri. Phadke was introduced to the elite audience. Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, BJS-Manager also attended the presentation. |

The BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) Implementation Team Members have done a commendable job of completing the Roadmap in 86 Schools, Pre-Accreditation in 4 Schools, Student Assessment Program in 31 Schools covering 1116 Students of Little Andaman, North Andaman, South Andaman and Middle Andaman Zones. In the area-centric Programs one MDP for 28 participants of 11 Schools in Little Andaman and one TTP for 47 participants of 39 Schools in Diglipur were successfully conducted. |

Management Development Program was conducted at Hut Bay in Little Andaman for the Heads of Schools by Prof. B. Prakash, Asst. Director along with Mr. Jagannath Rao, Project Leader for 2 days on 27th & 28th September 2007 for 30 Heads of Institutions including Principals, Vice-Principals, HMs and Teachers In charge. Pramukh of Little Andaman Shri Joga Rao graced the inaugural function and the program was covered by the local press. |

Teachers Training Program (Phase-II) was conducted at Diglipur in North Andaman Island by Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Project Manager along with Mr. Suman Dutta, Project Leader. 47 teachers attended the program and appreciated it. |

Shri. Sunil Phadke, Executive Director accompanied by Prof. B. Prakash, Asst. Director and Managers Mr. Manash Sen Sarma and Ms. Yogini Barde had a meeting with His Excellency, Lt. General Bhopinder Singh, Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and appraised him of the BJS activities in the Islands and briefed the LG on the BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) being carried out in all the 402 Schools of the A&N Islands. The Lt. Governor assured of forming a committee to look into the future of the project. |

Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Shri. Chhering Targay, IAS met with BJS-Asst. Director Prof. Balu Prakash and Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Manager and agreed to recommend to the Lt. Governor, BJS’s request for concessional rates for accommodation of Staff on par with Govt. Officials. The impending visit of Shri. Sunil Phadkeji, BJS-Executive Director for Interactive Presentation on e-Governance was also finalized. |

BJS starts the third year of the implementation of programs under BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) in the Schools in and around Port Blair. The new recruits went with the team for the practical exposure of program implementation. A total of 18 schools have been planned during the last week of the month. |

Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, BJS Project Manager was called by Shri. S.N. Jha, Special Secretary cum Director (Education) to make a presentation of the different programs under BJS-EDUQIP. Two programs, namely School Accreditation and Student Assessment Program were presented. Among the dignitaries present were Mr. Lucas Robert, Director - Sports, Art & Culture along with Mr. C. Nachiappan, Dr. R. P. Pandey, Mr. Devdas, Dr. Ayyaraju and Ms. Leela Verghese all Assistant Directors. They are keen to see the reports of the various programs. |

Smt. Leela Verghese, Asst. Director of Education (Planning) inaugurated the Induction Program for the newly recruited Staff Members from the A&N Islands and shared her experiences about BJS. Shri. Manash Sen Sarma, Manager BJS introduced the inductees to BJS, FJEI and EDUQIP. |

2nd July to 7th July 2007 |
The Induction Program for new Staff Members selected locally was conducted for 6 days. The participants were made aware of all the BJS Programs mentioned in the MoU signed with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. They were also briefed regarding the programs to be implemented during the academic session 2007-2008. The participants also gave mock presentations on different topics related to the programs as readiness for the implementation. |

Mr. Shantilal Muttha had a two hour long discussion with Shri S.N.Jha, Director and Special Secretary (School Education). Shri S.N.Jha was explained in detail about the project BJS-EDUQIP and what was accomplished in the last two academic sessions. The Director was also given a detailed report regarding the schools and the programs conducted at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Director expressed his deep interest to know about the program and accordingly Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Manager BJS has been instructed to seek prior appointment and do the needful. |

The New Chief Secretary for A&N Islands, Shri. Chhering Targay, IAS, was briefed on the BJS post-tsunami activities in the A&N including that of putting up a full-fledged BJS-office in Port Blair, Reconstructing 11 School Buildings, 34 Health Centers and the ongoing Education Quality Improvement Programs in all Schools of the A&N Islands by the Asst. Director of BJS, Prof. B. Prakash. He also sought the A&N Administration’s dates for the Interactive Presentation on e-Governance initiated by National President Shri. Shantilalji Muttha during his meeting with the former Chief Secretary on 24th January 2007 and informed that Shri. Sunil Phadke, Executive Director would be requiring about 2 to 3 hours for the interactive session with all Secretaries of A&N. |
