10th April 2008	Chief Guest Sri. S. N. Jha, IAS, Special Secretary-cum-Director Education was handed over the entire BJS-EDUQIP documents & CDs by the Executive Director Shri Sunil Phadkeji in the presence of all the A&N Education Directorate Officials, participating Teacher Trainees, Expert BJS Team from Pune H.O and Prof. Balu Prakash – BJS Asst. Director along with all BJS(A&N) Team Members of Port Blair Office at the formal handing over function on 10th April 2008.

9th April 2008	Shri Sunil Phadkeji, Executive Director, Brig. Satish Kalia - Deputy Director, Ms Divya Khivansara - Asst. Director, Ms Mrinmayee Kalkar - Manager, Mr Vinod Khedlekar - HR Manager and Ms Swarupama Raskar - Project Leader along with Prof. Balu Prakash, Asst. Director BJS (A&N) and Mr. Suman Dutta, Project Leader conducted the 3 days training programme for the selected Teachers from all the 9 Education Zones of the A&N Islands as part of the handing over procedures.

8th April 2008	A team of BJS experts lead by Shri. Sunil Phadkeji - Executive Director, Brig. Satish Kalia - Deputy Director, Ms Divya Khivansara - Asst. Director, Ms Mrinmayee Kalkar - Manager, Mr Vinod Khedlekar - HR Manager and Ms. Swarupama Raskar - Project Leader visited Port Blair for formally handing over of BJS-EDUQIP to Directorate of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Administration. The Chief Guest Shri. S. N. Jha, IAS, Special Secretary-cum-Director (Education), inaugurated the training program for 72 selected Teachers at the Siksha Sadan. Prof. Balu Prakash - Asst. Director along with all Staff Members of BJS (A&N) Port Blair Office attended the inaugural function on 8th April 2008.

10th March 2008	A Grand Rally was organized by the Directorate of Sports, Arts & Culture (SAC) of A & N Administration in commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the arrival of the First Batch of Freedom Fighters of the 1st War of Independence, who landed at the Chattam Jetty in Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 10th March 1858. The Asst. Director of BJS - Prof. Balu Prakash participated in the rally and the Foundation Stone Laying Function for a Memorial on behalf of Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana

24th December 2007	Shri. Sunil Phadkeji, Executive Director came in from Pune to attend the meeting with Shri. S. N. Jha, Special Secretary-cum-Director (Education) and all the top A&N Education Directorate authorities. The meeting was attended by all the Assistant Directors of Education (Planning, Personnel, Administration, Monitoring & Text Books), DEO South Andaman, DEO Science, Accounts Officer, and Statistical Officer all from the Directorates of Education. Prof. B. Prakash, Assistant Director, Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Project Manager, Mr. Jagannath Rao, Project Leader, and Mr. Suman Dutta, Project Leader from BJS attended the crucial Meeting. It was a very productive meeting where a consensus was reached regarding the launch of ITE2AS and the handover of the copyright of BJS-EDUQIP programs to the various nodal agencies of the A&N Directorate of Education. It was also decided that the handing over and training of the officials could be conducted the week after CBSE Board Examinations. It was also decided that the ITE2AS can be launched with immediate effect. The officials who would be coordinating from the Directorate of Education have been identified and assigned specific responsibilities.

1st December 2007	Mr. Benjamin Isaac, Director-ORT was on visit of the A&N Islands, completed the tour of BJS-ORT Schools in North Andaman, Middle Andaman, South Andaman and Campbell Bay; he had an experience sharing session at the BJS-Port Blair office with the A&N Team members, whose dedication, he said, enabled them to reach far flung and inaccessible Schools and made the BJS-EDUQIP(A&N) a successful venture.

15th November 2007	Teachers Training Program phase II was conducted at Mayabandar of North Andaman by Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Project Manager along with Mr. Suman Dutta, Project Leader. 57 teachers attended the program for three days which ended with Creativity for Teachers on the third day. They appreciated the program and praised our efforts to bring quality in education.

4th October 2007	BJS-Executive Director Shri. Sunil Phadke visited Port Blair on 4th October 2007 for an Interactive Presentation on ITEEAS with top A&N officials including the Chief Secretary Shri. Chhering Targay IAS, Secretary (Higher Education) Shri. Arvind Ray IAS, Incharge Special Secretary-cum-Director (Education) Ms. S. K. P. Sodhi, Jt. Secretary (IT) Shri. Utpal Sharma, Mr. Radhakrishnan, I/C NIC and other Senior Education Directorate Officials were present at the A&N Secretariat Conference Hall. The Chief Secretary wound-up the proceedings by calling for ITEEAS proposals to be submitted by BJS through the Secretary (Education). Shri. Phadke was introduced to the elite audience. Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, BJS-Manager also attended the presentation.

30th September 2007	The BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) Implementation Team Members have done a commendable job of completing the Roadmap in 86 Schools, Pre-Accreditation in 4 Schools, Student Assessment Program in 31 Schools covering 1116 Students of Little Andaman, North Andaman, South Andaman and Middle Andaman Zones. In the area-centric Programs one MDP for 28 participants of 11 Schools in Little Andaman and one TTP for 47 participants of 39 Schools in Diglipur were successfully conducted.

27th September 2007	Management Development Program was conducted at Hut Bay in Little Andaman for the Heads of Schools by Prof. B. Prakash, Asst. Director along with Mr. Jagannath Rao, Project Leader for 2 days on 27th & 28th September 2007 for 30 Heads of Institutions including Principals, Vice-Principals, HMs and Teachers In charge. Pramukh of Little Andaman Shri Joga Rao graced the inaugural function and the program was covered by the local press.

19th September 2007	Teachers Training Program (Phase-II) was conducted at Diglipur in North Andaman Island by Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Project Manager along with Mr. Suman Dutta, Project Leader. 47 teachers attended the program and appreciated it.

8th September 2007	Shri Praful Patel, Minister of Civil Aviation, while on a visit to the A&N Islands to inaugurate the works for the Port Blair International Airport, was greeted on behalf of the BJS Founder & National President Shri. Shantilal Muttha, by Prof. B. Prakash, Asst. Director, BJS.

6th September 2007	Shri. Sunil Phadke, Executive Director accompanied by Prof. B. Prakash, Asst. Director and Managers Mr. Manash Sen Sarma and Ms. Yogini Barde had a meeting with His Excellency, Lt. General Bhopinder Singh, Lt. Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and appraised him of the BJS activities in the Islands and briefed the LG on the BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) being carried out in all the 402 Schools of the A&N Islands. The Lt. Governor assured of forming a committee to look into the future of the project.

7th August 2007	Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Shri. Chhering Targay, IAS met with BJS-Asst. Director Prof. Balu Prakash and Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Manager and agreed to recommend to the Lt. Governor, BJS’s request for concessional rates for accommodation of Staff on par with Govt. Officials. The impending visit of Shri. Sunil Phadkeji, BJS-Executive Director for Interactive Presentation on e-Governance was also finalized.


23rd July 2007	BJS starts the third year of the implementation of programs under BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) in the Schools in and around Port Blair. The new recruits went with the team for the practical exposure of program implementation. A total of 18 schools have been planned during the last week of the month.

14th July 2007	Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, BJS Project Manager was called by Shri. S.N. Jha, Special Secretary cum Director (Education) to make a presentation of the different programs under BJS-EDUQIP. Two programs, namely School Accreditation and Student Assessment Program were presented. Among the dignitaries present were Mr. Lucas Robert, Director - Sports, Art & Culture along with Mr. C. Nachiappan, Dr. R. P. Pandey, Mr. Devdas, Dr. Ayyaraju and Ms. Leela Verghese all Assistant Directors. They are keen to see the reports of the various programs.

2nd July 2007	Smt. Leela Verghese, Asst. Director of Education (Planning) inaugurated the Induction Program for the newly recruited Staff Members from the A&N Islands and shared her experiences about BJS. Shri. Manash Sen Sarma, Manager BJS introduced the inductees to BJS, FJEI and EDUQIP.

2nd July to 7th July 2007	The Induction Program for new Staff Members selected locally was conducted for 6 days. The participants were made aware of all the BJS Programs mentioned in the MoU signed with the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. They were also briefed regarding the programs to be implemented during the academic session 2007-2008. The participants also gave mock presentations on different topics related to the programs as readiness for the implementation.

16th June 2007	Mr. Shantilal Muttha had a two hour long discussion with Shri S.N.Jha, Director and Special Secretary (School Education). Shri S.N.Jha was explained in detail about the project BJS-EDUQIP and what was accomplished in the last two academic sessions. The Director was also given a detailed report regarding the schools and the programs conducted at the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Director expressed his deep interest to know about the program and accordingly Mr. Manash Sen Sarma, Manager BJS has been instructed to seek prior appointment and do the needful.

16th June 2007	Shri Shantilalji Muttha conducted induction training for the new employees and made them aware of the vision and mission of the organization and also assured them of the knowledge and experience they will gain by working for the organization.

1st May 2007	The New Chief Secretary for A&N Islands, Shri. Chhering Targay, IAS, was briefed on the BJS post-tsunami activities in the A&N including that of putting up a full-fledged BJS-office in Port Blair, Reconstructing 11 School Buildings, 34 Health Centers and the ongoing Education Quality Improvement Programs in all Schools of the A&N Islands by the Asst. Director of BJS, Prof. B. Prakash. He also sought the A&N Administration’s dates for the Interactive Presentation on e-Governance initiated by National President Shri. Shantilalji Muttha during his meeting with the former Chief Secretary on 24th January 2007 and informed that Shri. Sunil Phadke, Executive Director would be requiring about 2 to 3 hours for the interactive session with all Secretaries of A&N.

26 December 2006	34 Health Centers reconstructed by BJS handed over to Andaman and Nicobar Administration. Program held at Tagore Govt. College Conference hall. Minister of State and Home Affairs, Shri. S. Raghupathy, Member of Parliament, Shri. Manoranjan Bhakta, Commissioner cum Secretary, Health, Shri Aravind Ray (IAS), Member of National Disaster Management Authority, Shri. Shasidhar Reddy, Director of Health Services, Dr. N. Sadasivan, Sectretary Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Rajkumar, International Pragrams Officer, DRI, USA, Mathews Ian Mac Calla, India coordinator, DRI, Mr. Sheshadri Iyer, BJS National President Shri. Shantilalji Muttha, BJS National Secretary Shri. Prafulla Parakh were present to grace the occasion.

18-19 December 2006	Management Development Program conducted in Port Blair for 40 Head of the Institutions. Mr.C. Nachiappan, Asst. Director, Planning, Education Department was the chief guest.

9 December 2006	Ms. Anjulatha Varma, DEO Rangat Visited BJS office, Port Blair

20 November 2006	ORT officials meeting with BJS staff held at BJS office, Port Blair. Team was given a detailed presentation on Teachers Training Program, Disaster Management Program, Smart School Software, Multimedia teaching, Computer Awareness Program, Student Assessment Program and Yoga Training.

19 November 2006	Director, ORT International, Ms. Celeste Angus and Director, ORT India, Mr. Benjamin Isaac arrived at Port Blair. They inaugurated ORT sponsored school MS Chouldari.

1 & 2 November 2006	Management Development Program conducted at Rangat, 53 Head of the Institutions got trained.

18 October 2006	Disaster management program conducted at Diglipur, 25 teachers participated. EO Mr. M.Gunasheelan was the Chief Guest.

14 October 2006	Disaster management program conducted at Mayabunder, 14 teachers participated. DEO Mr. P. Gupta was the Chief Guest.

29th September 2006	BJS-EDUQIP team gives farewell to Shri. P.K.Roy Nodal Officer (Legal) and Chairman AN-BASIC, who is retiring from service from today after 36 years of service in the Directorate of Education, A&N Islands.

22nd September 2006	Director BJS Visits Naval Public School as Guest of Honor for Science Exhibition.

04 & 19th September 2006	Meeting held in the Directorate on 4 Sep to initiate handover of BJS-EDUQIP programs to the Directorate of Education as per clause 9 on page 9 of the MOU. Another meeting held in Directorate of Education regarding transfer of programs ownership from BJS-EDUQIP to Directorate of Education. Chairman AN-BASIC chaired the meeting.

8th September 2006	Port Blair and surrounding areas shaken by an earthquake of 5.5 on richter scale at 2.50pm.

25th August 2006	Assistant Commissioner Mayabander inaugurates 2nd MDP for Heads of Institution of Mayabander zone conducted by Director A&N and BJS-EDUQIP team.

24th August 2006	Director A&N Shri. Hemant Misra had meeting with Deputy Commissioner North & Middle Andaman Shri. Vijay Anand IAS to appraise him about BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) Programs.

15th August 2006	Secretary Education Shri. Uddipta Ray (along with Ms. Ray) depart from Port Blair to Goa on transfer. Director A&N and Team see them off at airport.

14th August 2006	5th meeting of AN-BASIC (the 1st for the academic year 2006-07) was held at the BJS-EDUQIP office under the Chairmanship of Shri. P.K. Roy. Secretary AN-BASIC, and all members attended along with special invitee Shri. Sunil Phadke, Executive Director.

10th August 2006	Executive Director Shri. Sunil Phadke along with Assistant Director Mr. B. Prakash conduct 1st Management Development Program for the academic year 2006-07 for Heads of Institutions in the North Andaman zone. The program was inaugurated by DEO North Andaman Ms. Leela Hanif.

8th August 2006	Director Education Shri. Raj Kumar inaugurates BJS-EDUQIP Teachers Training Program for teachers of Port Blair. Program attended by all senior officials of Directorate of Education.

2nd August 2006	Roll out of BJS-EDUQIP programs for academic year 2006-07 launched with a 3 days Teachers Training Program in Wimberlygunj zone.

28th July 2006	BJS-ITEAS team starts its work in the Education Directorate regarding preliminary study for installing e governance in Directorate of Education.
27th July 2006	Director BJS-EDUQIP(A&N) had meeting with Chief Secretary Shri. Shumsher K Sheriff IAS and discussed:a) Implementation Schedule of BJS-EDUQIP programs for 2006-07.b) Completion of construction work of schools and health centers by BJS.c) Grading of schools

8th July 2006	1st teleconference between BJS-Pune (HO) and Port Blair Office to review programs and Implementation Schedule.

20th June 2006	Director BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) Shri. Hemant Misra along with Program Coordinator Mrs. Minakshi Misra had meeting with His Excellency Lt. General (retired) M. M. Lakhera PVSM Lt. Governor of A&N Islands. They explained entire basket of BJS-EDUQIP programs to the Lt. Governor.

12th June 2006	Directorate of Education submits report to HRD ministry indicating their satisfaction with BJS-EDUQIP programs.

8th May	Director BJS-EDUQIP met Secretary Education Shri. Uddipta Ray and handed over report on programs done during academic year 2005-06.

6th and 7th January, 2006	3rd two day Management Development Program was conducted for 25 Heads of Institutions of Middle Andaman zone by Assistant Director, Management Development Program Dr. S. Joshi & Assistant Director-A&N Prof. B. Prakash. The program was inaugurated by Shri. Madhusudan Tripathi , DEO Rangat.

3rd January, 2006	Honble Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh arrived at Port Blair. Apart from other programs he was appraised by the administration about work done by various NGO's including construction of Schools and Health Centers by BJS and the Educational Quality Improvement Program BJS-EDUQIP (A&N).

31st December, 2005	Director Education, Shri. Raj Kumar spend 2 hours in BJS-EDUQIP office with Directors and team members and reviewed the BJS-EDUQIP Programs.

30th December, 2005	The 2nd two day Management Development Program for 42 Heads of Institutions of Port Blair, South Andaman inaugurated by Director Education, Shri. Raj Kumar and conducted by Executive Director Shri. Sunil Phadke and Assistant Director-BJS Prof. B. Prakash.

28th and 29th December, 2005	The 2nd two day Management Development Program for 42 Heads of Institutions of Port Blair, South Andaman inaugurated by Director Education, Shri. Raj Kumar and conducted by Executive Director Shri. Sunil Phadke and Assistant Director-BJS Prof. B. Prakash.

27th and 28th December, 2005	Ist two day Management Development Program conducted for 25 Heads of Institutions of Wimberlygunj zone by Executive Director Shri. Sunil Phadke, Director (A&N) Shri. Hemant Misra and Assistant Director Management Development Program Dr. S. Joshi. The program was inaugurated by Shri. N.R.Krishnamurthy, DEO, Wimberlygunj.

26th December, 2005	BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) team commemorated 1st year of Tsunami. The team assembled in the BJS-EDUQIP office Senate Room. The team led by Shri. Sunil Phadkeji, Executive Director and Shri. Hemant Misra, Director, A&N offered prayers and observed 2 mins silence to commemorate the 1st year after the Tsunami.

20th December, 2005	Mr. Suhas Baxi, Director Triple Point Technologies, Donor's for Badam Nallah School reconstruction, inaugurated PS Badam Nallah School and handed over the same to the administration.

17th December, 2005	AN-BASIC team comprising of Chairman, Member Secretary, Director-BJS and Assistant Director-BJS visited 3 schools (SSS Haddo (Telegu), SSS Haddo (Tamil), SSS Girls) on a surprise visit to ascertain BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) Program Implemented by the Schools.

25th November, 2005	Director BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) briefed Director of Education about the activities to date of the BJS-EDUQIP (A&N) team as well as the schedule for December.05. Secretary (Edu.) was also informed about Shri. Mutthaji having received the WANGO 2005 Award on behalf of the BJS in the Dominican Republic.

13th November, 2005	On the occasion of Children's Day, BJS-EDUQIP team launches its programme "Teaching with Multimedia" for 42 children nominated from different schools of Port Blair. The School Principals and BJS Directors inaugurated the programme.

10th October, 2005	Crash Course specialist teachers selected by BJS land in Port Blair. Their areas of specialisation - Maths, English, Social Studies as required in the Islands.

30th September, 2005	Roll out of the Accreditation programme for the A&N schools begins.

24th September, 2005	A&N Team leaves Pune for Port Blair after Induction and intensive training on the complete basket of programmes.

10th September, 2005	Formal Induction Programme for A&N Team is successfully completed.

5th August, 2005	BJS-EDUQIP expert committee proceeds to Port Blair.

29th July, 2005	Members of the Joint Committee (AN-BASIC) appointed.

18th July, 2005	An MoU between A&N Admin and BJS for the Educational quality Improvement Programme (BJS-EDUQIP)

1st June, 2005	BJS recruits 47 professionals.

7th May, 2005	Expert Committee Report is received.

6th May, 2005	Sr. BJS officials meet Hon. President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam to update him on BJS's Educational Activities in the A&N Islands.

12th April, 2005	Consolidation & Analysis of Feedback.

5th April, 2005	Andaman & Nicobar Administration appoints a four member Expert Committee to evaluate the programmes.

4th to 9th April, 2005	Showcasing of BJS-EDUQIP programmes at Port Blair - B. R. Ambedkar Polytechnic College & Shiksha Sadan.

25th March, 2005	BJS writes a letter to Director - Education (AN) for permission to showcase the basket of programmes.

28th January, 2005	BJS HO conducts a needs assessment for identification of the relevant programmes.

27th January, 2005	Lt. Governor visits H.O.
	Addresses all NGO's and Press working post Tsunami.

19th January, 2005	BJS National President visits Andaman & Nicobar Islands for assessment.
